A Family Garden Design in Cardiff
My clients rarely used their garden and wanted a space that felt more inviting, with raised beds for growing and pathways lined with sensory planting to support the whole family.
The design introduces two paved seating areas and a unique chunky wooden tree bench — all created to encourage spending more time outdoors. The larger terrace near the house forms a dining space surrounded by planting, with a decorative Corten steel screen adding a focal point and warm evening ambience through uplighting and downlights.
A second, smaller terrace beneath the Acer tree offers a relaxed lounge area, with subtle lighting to highlight the tree’s beauty. The oversized tree seat, positioned opposite the kitchen window, is perfect for a quick tea break or a quiet moment or a leisurely chat.
Stone boulders running through the central border add texture and structure, softened by tall grasses, perennials, and bulbs. With multiple routes and seating spots, the garden now offers varied ways to explore, pause, and enjoy the space throughout the day.
